I'm just finishing a project for a utility company that took a year. It entailed doing a gis survey for the electrical grid of a local utility co-op. Basically it involved mapping the electrical poles, boxes and meters with what is called a mapper. it is a handheld computer that takes a mapping grade gps point for the location and inventory for the assemblies of the devices. The end result is a digital map that can be printed out with layers showing the various circuits, the direction of the flow of power and the detailed makeup of the structures involved.
A waypoint is the gps location that is taken. It provides a point with a location for longitude and latitude that can easily be located with a gps device. while on the project the correlation to spiritual pricipals became very real. Waypoints are usually coordinates that identify a point set in physical space that show longitude and latitude and sometimes altitude. Above the earth it cold entail time also as one of the factors.
The scriptures mention how the natural creation points or reveals something of the spiritual. It's interesting how the deeper we look into the natural creation the more spiritual it seems to be. for instance scientists now believe there are 11 dimensions.
Abraham was looking for a city whose builder and maker was God. while sojourning to the promised land he often stopped and built an alter and offered sacrifices to God. these could be looked at as waypoints along the way.
These times Abraham had with the Lord became points he could recall and remember, instances where the Lord spoke with him concerning the journey the Lord had called him to.

I like your thoughts on waypoints. I think we do the same thing, but in a slightly different way -- since the waypoints are internal and not external for all to see.
